Egersund

Now for something a little different......

This set (or various parts thereof....) comes from the Norwegian potters  Egersund .You can read about Egersund  at  Stuff that makes my heart beat faster. I  am showing it here to compare the teapots concerned...This  one although it has the same form it fells a little taller- or is that because of the difference in patterns. But one thing is clear to me when I compare them and that is that the lid on mine sits higher and doesn't have the "sharper" edge seen on Toves  Egersund teapot.

I have managed to find bits and pieces. I have 6 side plates, 6 saucers but so far only 5 cups.
I need to find a creamer and sugar bowl. I have on the other hand found a casserole dish and a sauce boat-so there must be dinner plates......

the search goes on !

Scheurich

This is one of my "favourite at the minute" vases.

Scheurich 205/32

It has a  slightly sloping shape top to bottom which is accentuated by the glaze.

this is a form that comes in all sorts of glazes and patterns - not all of them look this good......

I am not normally a fan of white in the mix, but this shade of white works for me!

The Lava glaze isn't too extreme...(not so prone to chipping) which  also works for me , because this piece is now standing in the kitchen ! ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN HERE.....

Jasba floor-vase.

I had almost forgotten about this.... the second floor-vase( seethe first one here   it-was-big-enough-to-be-called.....) This is the second onewhich I found at the same auction house the following week

It took such a time to clean it and now that I look closely at it I see I am not finished with it yet. I have had many vases over the years that have been difficult to clean because of sediment and such on the interior surface having been used for flowers- which you can expect with a vase, but on the outside??

well anyhow, enough moaning! this is a Jasba form number 230, and the height 40 cm.

Because luckily the jasba label was still in place we know what it is , so many different companies made this type of vase in a myriad of forms and glazes.

I prefer the glaze on this latest  one as it is more vibrant and shows better contrast.

Well that is the new week started ....whilst it is still snowing..............
